ACCIDENT AND SICKNESS (A & S) INSURANCE

Many Canadians today choose additional health care insurance to cover expenses that aren’t included in provincial health plans.

Many people in Canada today choose to supplement their provincial health plans with additional health care insurance to cover expenses not included in government-funded coverage. While Accident and Sickness (A&S) insurance is provided through provincial health plans, its scope can be limited. To bridge these gaps, individual A&S policies are available from private insurers, offering more comprehensive protection and financial peace of mind.

A&S insurance is completely separate and distinct from disability income policies, because it does not provide you with an income; A&S protects you against loss and provides partial or entire repayment of qualifying medical and dental expenses that have been incurred.

Health insurance policies can vary significantly. At Instant Life Insure, our advisors carefully compare options across a trusted network of Canada’s top insurance providers to find the best coverage and protection tailored to your unique needs.

Accident and Sickness Plans cover you in five important ways:

  1. Daily Hospital Confinement Benefit:
Pays you the very first day you are hospitalized, for up to 365 days per accident or sickness in Canada or the U.S.
  2. Daily Intensive Care Benefit:
This benefit is paid in addition to the Daily Hospital Confinement Benefit.
  3. Ambulance Reimbursement Benefit:
Even if you are not hospitalized, we will reimburse you for the cost of your ambulance services, up to the amount selected based on the plan you choose.
  4. Recovery Benefit Following Hospital Confinement:
Following hospitalization, we will pay you for a minimum of 10 days, regardless of whether or not you are disabled. This recovery benefit is payable to you while you are recovering at home or anywhere.
  5. Recovery Benefit Following Outpatient Surgery or Fracture*:
If you suffer an accident or sickness that requires outpatient surgery and you are unable to work or perform your usual activities because you are totally disabled, we will pay you for up to 14 days while you recover.
